Showcasing Leaders of Sustainable Energy Development

In an effort to encourage new technology and business models that lead to sustainable energy solutions, Sustainable Energy Fund (SEF) and joint sponsor West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund (WPPSEF) have created a competition open to all Pennsylvania residents, businesses, and communities.

The competition seeks to showcase businesses and communities who are leaders of sustainable energy development in Pennsylvania. SEF aims to educate businesses and the public about practices that lead to more sustainable energy use.

Applicants will be placed into one of two categories—business and individuals or community. In the business/individual competition, first place winners will receive a $100,000 grant. The runner up will receiving $25,000 and third place will receive $3,000 in grants.

The winner of the top prize in the community competition will be rewarded with a $25,000 grant, with second prize earning $5,000 and third place receiving $3,000 in grants.

Applicants will need to explain the energy issue or problem to be addressed and the plan to address it using sustainable or renewable technology solutions and practices.

Applications are due by May 3, 2016. Requirements can be found at EnergySprout.org.
